Art is Life

Tatiana Rusanovska is an accomplished award-winning illustrator and multifaceted artist. Her unique style features a variety of techniques that create whimsical imagery through an array of distinctive colours.

Tatiana developed a solid inclination for art early in her childhood. Studies at an art school in her hometown Kremenchuk, Ukraine, brought Tatiana to mastering the basics of drawing, painting, art history and sculpture. Teachers helped cultivate Tatiana’s talents and taught her to appreciate the beauty of a colourful world. As a student, her work won regional contests. During that period, she was inspired by the works of Leonardo Da Vinci as a revolutionist in Renaissance Art. Artists like Mikhail Vrubel, Vassily Kandinsky, Heorhii Narbut greatly influenced her.

After graduating from the art school with distinction, she entered the College of Applied Arts and Design in Kyiv, Ukraine. The influence of European artists from the brink of the 19th and 20th centuries became more pronounced in her style and works. Tatiana graduated from college with distinction and worked as an artist and a graphic designer with diverse media and techniques. Since 2003 Tatiana has lived in Toronto, where she continues to master her art and work as an illustrator and a graphic designer.

Her artworks reflect the warmth and rich colour palette of her homeland, with flowers constituting the main themes of her work. Her paintings and graphics decorate many offices and private collections in Europe and North America.

Currently, Tatiana specializes in monotype and vector illustrations. Some of her vector artwork could be seen on iStockPhoto and Getty Images.

Don’t be afraid to switch to new work if you can’t finish the first, as one of my teachers has said: “If you are drawing a square many times and can’t get it right – take a blank sheet of paper and start drawing a circle. Then you will get your square right!”
